Yarning Circle in Beaudesert - Karen Tunny

Participants at our most recent Yarning Circle in Beaudesert were delighted with the day and are already making plans for future such events. Twenty six people gathered in the circle to learn, share and network for future possibilites. It was an honour to have Aunty Mulanjali from the local Mulanjali clan join us and to be welcomed by Marc Paulson who performed a Mulanjali dance. It was great to also see several members of the RADF Committee, Beaudesert Shire Council staff and QCAN members.

The Yarning Circle was facilitated by Debra Bennet McLean, QCAN Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts and Cultural Development Manager. The Yarning Circle is a process which Debra has built from the wisdom passed on by Elders and her own participation in various ceremonies.

The timing of the Yarning Circle was most appropriate as the Beaudesert region is currently working on the development of their cultural plan.

Thankyou QCAN for a wonderful morning in Beaudesert.
It was a privilege to sit in even for a brief while and share thoughts and stories with people in the community.
I only wish we could have more activities and sessions like this to knit our community closer together.
