So Superfly Workshops 05 - Amanda Hayman

QCAN in partnership with Red Cross ran a series of workshops for homeless Indigenous young people. The workshops engaged these youth in various art and cultural based workshops, incuding Traditional Indigenous Games (Blackbase), Beat Mixing and Hip Hop (SpeakOut), Circus (Vulcana), Singing (Troy and Trevelyn Brady), Capoeira (Zambiacongo), African drumming (Eliott Orr) and more. The Brisbane Powerhouse gave free access to space and Access Arts allowed us to use their bus for transportation. QCAN would like to thank all the elders, volunteers and youth service providers that came along to support the project. We are currently seeking funding to continue working with these young people. It is our intention to run a cultural camp for them in 2006. We have already acquired $5000 from the Quakers.

Dear all,

just wanted to leave a note saying I enjoyed the time at the workshops and it inspired me greatly. Only now that I´m back in good old Germany I really realise how amazing the work is you are doing and how much I miss each and every one of you and being part of it all.

Lots of love,
Eliane
